Social Work Students

Welcome to the student webpage of the Social Work Leadership Institute!

The uniqueness of having a social work degree and being trained through the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education is not only about being committed to improving the lives of older adults, but to also strengthen our nationwide network by collaborating, sharing and advocating for each other as well as our clients.

This section of our website is for both alumni and current students of the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education. It is being designed to help you network with other graduates of the HPPAE; update you on current events, news, and activities in Aging and Social Work; and keep you informed on job and professional development opportunities.

We recognize all of you as the growing cadre of leaders in the field of Social Work and would like to remain in contact and work with you throughout your professional career.

"Today's aging population is facing challenges and issues never imagined by their parents. To help them navigate their choices and options, social workers can provide information and guidance . And SWLI is doing its part to respond to changing demographics by proactively supporting and educating highly-qualified social workers who are able to meet this urgent need."

—Paula G. Allen-Meares, B.S., M.S.W., Ph.D.
Dean and the Norma Radin Collegiate Professor of Social Work
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

"The Partnership Program is an amazing way to enrich learning while in the MSW program. This program facilitates the students exposure to the varying work that gerontology social workers do. This exposure combined with the extra attention and support by professors ensured adequate preparation for me as I entered the work force."

—Lisa Tatge
