  • The Edwin Beer Research Program in
    Urology and Urology-Related Fields
    To increase the number of investigators in urology and urology-related fields, grants of up to $80,000 for a two-year period are available to qualified M.D.s and /or Ph.Ds. candidates, who must be directly associated with the Department of Urology in their institution, must commit at least one-half of their time to the specific research activities for which the award is granted.

  • The Bowen-Brooks Fellowship for Advanced Studies at Oxford University
    To enable the recipient to spend one year in Oxford, England in pursuit of advanced health care studies, a stipend of $50,000 will be offered. The recipient will attend courses, observe patient care, and learn the principles of evidence-based health care research and how to incorporate this approach into the day-to-day decision making in clinical, scientific and administrative health care settings. The program is in affiliation with the Oxford University Programme in Evidence-Based Health Care, Green College, and the John Radcliffe Hospital.
    The next fellowship award will be given in 2004.

  • Gladys Brooks Book and Paper Conservation Internship
    This two to three month internship provides an opportunity for advanced training in book and paper conservation.

  • Charles A. Elsberg Fellowship in Neurological Surgery
    Awarded for research by individuals who have completed an accredited neurological surgery residency program. A one-year grant of $50,000 is paid to the researcher's sponsoring institution.

  • The Glorney-Raisbeck Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases
    This one-year grant is awarded for basic science research and is dedicated to enhancing the academic careers of young physician investigators who have a commitment to research. Potential for competitive renewal.

  • The Mary and David Hoar Grant Program in the Prevention and Treatment of Hip Fracture
    This fellowship supports clinical and basic science investigators who are early in their careers and are researching the basic causes of dizziness and other factors that contribute to falls and hip fractures. Candidates must hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and be recommended by a research sponsor and Department Chairman from an Academic Medical Center in the metropolitan New York region. Preferential consideration given to projects to be performed at an institution in the New York Metropolitan area. Paid directly to the institution.
